String by Brummie
A simple yet effective mechanism for generating and maintaining offensive flow
Great Britain on offence running three isolated cuts in a row in the String offence
Setup
String is best run when receiving a pull, so the setup can vary dramatically.
A handler, G, starts with the disc in the middle third of the field’s width. A reset handler, H, stays behind the disc. The cutters form a “string”; i.e. an ordered chain, with A cutting first, B second, and so on. Their precise placement in the stack is irrelevant, so long as they can avoid being picked.
Rotation
D1 > A > D2 > B > D3 > C > D4 > E > D5 > F
Step 01

- Begin with cutter isolated
Step 06

- A gets the disc under. B cuts away. Cutters C, E and F all move downfield to maintain distance between the disc and the stack. They should aim to move as fast as the disc is advancing, so as soon as the disc is thrown they should all push downfield Positioning Vertical Stack as disc moves downfield
Step 07

- B turns under Away to Open Under C cuts away.
- This is the key part of the offence, as A has two viable options at once; away to C, or under to B.
- Repeat this process from Step 6, rotating through the cutters, until unable to throw to either receiver, at which point reset the disc.

Tips
Brummie says:
String is a highly dynamic drill where the exact angles between cutter and thrower can vary dramatically depending on the precise speed and angle of each throw and the timing of cutters. As such, the deep throwing shapes shown in this drill are samples; pick the one that most closely matches the scenario you find yourselves in.
